DOUGLAS COUNTY LIONS’ ACTIVITIES
In the seventies Douglas County Lions had a full BAR (was allowed then) on the downtown square during Douglas County fair days. Selling pickles was a great money maker during this time. 10 YEARS
Held BINGO in the winter months in a county building (free of charge) serving burgers, dogs and drinks. Always had a full house, especially again selling pickles. 8 YEARS
During Douglas County fair parade, we always had large floats and won many first awards. A P&P booth was set up to sell POP and PICKLES.
A trick or treat night for kids was held in a shopping center where merchants gave treats and we gave candy with our logo and pencils for school with logo.
Numerous eye exams and glasses have been purchased, sometimes 25 a year. 30 to 40 YEARS
We built Adirondacks for our Colorado Lions Camp.
Paid for many Challenged Children to attend our Camp in Woodland Park.
Paid for several Cataract surgeries.
Douglas County was one of the first clubs to do KIDS SIGHT screening.
Participated in many, many visitations to state wide Lions Clubs.
Our members have hosted several Lions exchange students
Over 100 YEARS have attended many State and International Conventions. Have Hosted State Conventions in our County.
In our 100 Years we've had 5 or 6 members go on to become District Governors.
